Colleen Thompson has worked in the field of Aromatherapy since 1995 and has been a Registered Aromatherapist since 1997. She incorporated her business, Essence of Thyme Ltd., in 1995, and over the course of 12 years owned three aromatherapy stores and a holistic spa.

In 2012, she completed the development of her Aromatherapy Certification Program which she offers through Essence of Thyme College of Holistic Studies. The program is offered through correspondence and since 2012 hundreds of students from around the world have enrolled in the course. This program has been approved by the BCAOA CFA, NAHA and AIA. In January 2019, Colleen was pleased to welcome fellow aromatherapist and colleague, Dr. Kelly Ablard, into her business Essence of Thyme College of Holistic Studies as a full partner.

We launch our LabAroma podcast this week with Colleen.  Her and I discuss how the aromatherapy learning landscape has changed over the last 15 years and why a correspondence course model works for aromatherapy students work.  We dig deep and explore why the future lies within clinical aromatherapy and evidence based learning.
